Rather early this morning Xavier woke up Spencer and I (and anyone else near by) screaming and screaming in sheer desperation. He was frantically crying "Papa! Mama!" over and over again. He seemed a little dilutional. He pulled off Spencer's covers and and just kept screaming. There was no ignoring it. This kid was not going to roll back over to sleep. So, we both tried to comfort him in different ways. We tried holding him snugly, stroking, gave him some water, reassuring him that papa and mama were here, etc. He just kept screaming and fighting us. We racked our brains for what it could be: could he be teething? could he be wet? could he be having a memory from when Spencer and I were away this passed weekend (which went very well, though he did cry for me for an hour). We just couldn't figure it out. Well, after a very long time of screaming (a subjective time span at 3 am-I thought it had been an hour, Spencer says 20 minutes (10 spent tossing, 10 spent screaming)) Xavier insisted at getting off the bed and dragging me along. Puzzled, I followed.
As it turns out, he just wanted to play "choo choo". Oy! Not how I intended to spend the morning of our 4th anniversary.
